Checking out Knock Over City tonight and they have the tapes I did art for! Yay for work getting used!
woohoo! check out the band and/or buy the shirt and support some great massachusetts punk rock at http://ohthehumanitymass.bandcamp.com/merch/robot-t
made the picture for this sweet little free EP for my buddy. yaaaay
Alright, so I know it’s been a while and I’m sure nobody’s been checking…SO HERE’S WHAT I’M DOING RIGHT NOW:
Got two shirt designs in the works for Party Band, who are having their CD release at the end of March, which should be a pretty rad show. So when those are done, I’ll be posting those…
And then we’ve got stuff with my band going on. We’re doing a name change and some new visuals to go along with it, and we just tracked three songs for a little EP type thing that will have some cool handmade packaging, sort of a collaboration between me and Adam on the look of that thing. Gotta come up with an illustration for the inside cover, gonna do an illustration based on a design Adam did for a sticker, and I’m sure depending on tax returns and whatnot we’re gonna order shirts which means….ANOTHER illustration.
In short, I need to buy some pens and there’s going to be a BUNCH of new stuff up within the next month or so. Yay.
so I took Alphonse Mucha’s Job cigarette poster, which is one of my favorite art nouveau pieces, and altered, redrew, and painted it for Live From the Fallout Shelter’s schedule. YAY I think it came out pretty decent, despite the sloppy border I did.
New project in the works, should be posting it by the end of next week. It’ll be nifty or something.
Tom had a tumor. Not a bad one, but you generally try to get those out of your brain ASAP anyway. So he did.
Tom runs the Ant Cellar. He puts on awesome shows for free and gives the donations to the touring bands. Tom could use some help with the tumor money, so he’s throwing an awesome show at the Worthen, which is an awesome dive bar in Lowell. So here’s how I made a flier for it.
Well, first I did the layout in photoshop, which is boring. So then I did a pencil outline of the printout after. It looked like this:
Then I did a little watercolor stuff over the pencil and erased the pencil when it dried. It looked like this:
Then I inked it. That was this:
Slight color correction after scanning and then adding text, and boom final product:
If you’re going to be in Lowell around then, you should go. It’ll be fun. Two metal bands, a punk band, a loud indie band, and some fun surf rock. Five bucks, five bands, free parking, cheap beer, help a fella pay a bill or two?
My buddy Tom’s brain had some extra stuff in it. They took out the extra stuff and he’s fine but it’s expensive to trim the brain of excess brain, so he’s putting together a sick show to help pay the bills. I’ma do the flier. Should be done by Wednesday. It’s got Tom on it. (Tom’s a good dude who does nice things for local bands and local music fans, so he deserves a nice show and some brainmoney.)
